Overlooking the Caspian Sea, the 818-key Marriott Boulevard was reimagined by twenty2 degrees in a phased refurbishment that began with the Great Room and expanded to include the guestrooms and suites. The result is a refined yet expressive interior language that blends Marriott’s contemporary aesthetic with multiple references to Azerbaijan’s rich craft traditions.
Guests arrive past newly created, jewel-like boutiques, where brass fretwork and glass display cabinets create a glamorous retail encounter. The Great Room forms the heart of the hotel: an open-plan environment where lounges, bar, dining and working spaces flow together, flexing from morning to evening to meet the different needs of guests through the day. A palette of warm timbers, marble and brushed brass establishes an elegant foundation, enriched by geometric screens, curved forms and delicate detailing inspired by regional motifs. Planting, varied seating and subtly delineated zones bring intimacy to the expansive volume inside, and a large terrace extends the wining and dining experience outdoors.
Guestrooms adopt a more residential character, replacing desks with lounge seating and a coffee table. Dark timber flooring is complemented by rugs designed in a delicate interpretation of regional folkloric weaves, and the largely neutral colour palette is enlivened with pops of warm paprika tones.
Suites build on this language with bespoke furnishings and locally informed artwork, while the Presidential Suite takes this to a level of its own. Layers of rich materials distinguished by fine detailing, feature wall coverings and custom designed decorative lighting achieve interiors synonymous with modern luxury residences around the world.
