The Fellows House, Cambridge

EXCLUSIVE DESIGN; INCLUSIVE CHARACTER

The Fellows House is an apartment-style hotel designed to offer guests a home-away-from-home infused with the scientific, mathematical and artistic legacy of the university fellows and the architectural and cultural soul of Cambridge.

The influences behind The Fellows House brand led the design narrative, which is sometimes thought-provoking, often playful and always imaginatively layered to feed guest curiosity. Above all, the story is told through bespoke artwork, which includes etched copper pieces, expressionist portraits, sculptures and hand embellished texts together with carefully curated accessories, none of which are quite what they appear to be at first.

The hotel offers 133 apartments with a contemporary and pared-back design – spaces for guests to make their own. The ground floor public areas are open plan while clearly delineated, flowing from the reception lobby with a neighbourhood café to one side through to a bar and onto the restaurant where a courtyard garden with terrace dining and a snug is revealed. There is also a wellness centre with an indoor pool. The design aesthetic of the public areas is a harmonious juxtaposition of the traditional and the modern and materiality is of the highest quality.
