HYATT REGENCY LONDON OLYMPIA

Shaped by heritage and place

Part of the £1.3 billion transformation of Olympia into a world-leading cultural destination, Hyatt Regency London Olympia occupies a listed Art Deco building, originally conceived as one of London’s first multi-storey carparks and among the largest in Europe at the time. Reimagined by twenty2 degrees, it is now a hotel aligned with the new development while speaking of its architectural and cultural roots.

The light-filled ground floor is organised into open-plan zones for gathering, working and relaxation, reflecting the brand’s “Hotel Market” and “Make Space” offerings. A refined palette of ribbed marble, oak parquet and brushed brass-framed reeded glass establishes depth and tactility; a custom-designed carpet, subtly drawing on Art Deco patterns, flows through the area. Colour tones are warm and rich and lighting carefully considered, whether providing a soft glow to the columns or adding spectacle in the form of a glass sculpture with integrated LEDs suspended over the bar from the atrium above.

Guestrooms are streamlined and contemporary with touches of industrial styling in a nod to the district’s past. Suites are located within the front elevation of the existing building and the new fully glazed top three floors, providing expansive views over Olympia’s landmarks.

Specially commissioned artwork is central to the design vision, from mixed media pieces recalling Olympia’s many ‘world firsts’ to interpretive portraits of the area’s community heroes today and framed hieroglyphs that are, in fact, puzzles to unravel.
