Japanese youth culture
Vladivostok, the unofficial capital of the Russian Far East, faces Japan across the Sea of Japan, so when we had the opportunity to design a basement bar in the city, we took Japanese youth culture as our narrative in creating an evocative urban space. Wall graphics were inspired by flash art and combined with rustic timbers and decorative lighting typical of many Japanese restaurants; a J-Pop soundtrack plays in the background.
