Vibrant and Relevant
Our challenge was to translate a new pavilion extension to The Grand Hotel York into an all-day dining venue full of local character. The result was The Rise, a buzzing restaurant with a theatre kitchen, cocktail bar and an outdoor terrace, equally popular among visitors wanting a sense of city heritage and locals enjoying a touch of turn-of-the-century grandeur.
The aesthetic is honest, artisanal and unpretentious with timber panelling, marble floor tiles and custom-designed lamps referencing the railway lamps of old, all a harmonious complement to the locally sourced food, regional beers and fine wines.
