The refurbishment of the lobby at London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square reimagines the guest arrival experience and establishes a contemporary classic tone. The starting point in our thinking was the nearby Handel Hendrix House which combines two next-door residences, each one lived in by Handel and Hendrix albeit two hundred years apart. The result is a space that draws on Mayfair’s storied history, from Georgian refinement to its modern cultural energy, peppered with musical references.
A geometric black and white marble mosaic floor is echoed in a grid of brass ceiling lights, establishing a clear architectural rhythm, softened by a dusky pink lacquer to the reception desks. An offset lounge, arranged with varied seating and intimate nooks, introduces a more residential atmosphere for meeting, working and relaxing, with bespoke carpeting, walnut timber, antique brass and leather detailing adding warmth. Hues of green, blush, amber and marigold tones subtly reference the greenery of nearby Grosvenor Square, while abstract artworks and curated artefacts lend pops of colour and musical narrative, including an eye-catching pianola roll.
Twenty2 is currently refurbishing the hotel’s meeting rooms, its MClub Executive Lounge and the gym.
